It was Carmelo Hayes all along.
Over the past few months, NXT has featured a mystery surrounding the identity of Trick Williams‘ mystery attacker, as the individual cost Williams the chance to earn a shot at the NXT Championship. All signs pointed to Carmelo Hayes, but he denied it. However, Hayes turned on Williams and attacked him at NXT Vengeance Day.
On the February 6 episode of WWE NXT, Carmelo Hayes told his side of the story. He stated that he was not jealous of Trick Williams’ success. Hayes made it clear that he wanted Trick to succeed, but he had to be the one to cut him down and remind him of his place. Hayes claimed that Williams crossed him first. He noted that they had agreed to target different titles, but Trick started to believe his own hype and believe that they were on the same level.
Hayes then said hat when Trick tried to get a shot at the NXT Championship, that’s when he knew he had to take him out. Carmelo confirmed that he was the one who attacked Williams months ago. He said that he and Williams were not the same. Carmelo emphasized that Trick wanted to be like him so badly, but at the end of the day, all Williams would ever ve was his hype man.
Hayes also trolled the crowd by playing Trick Williams’ music, as Williams did not come out. He stated that Trick was laid up in a hospital for the time being.
